About Backlog Maze

Welcome to Backlog Maze — I’m really glad you found your way here.

My name’s Alejandro, and I’m a developer on a journey to becoming a project manager. This site is where I share what I’m learning along the way, especially the stuff I wish someone had explained to me sooner.

For years, I worked as a developer—writing code, solving bugs, and pushing features. Somewhere along the line, I found myself stepping into leadership roles: organizing tasks, helping teammates stay on track, and translating client needs into developer-friendly language. I wasn’t calling it project management at the time… but looking back, that’s exactly what I was doing.

It wasn’t until I started reading more about Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Gantt charts, burndown charts (so many charts!), and all the frameworks and tools that support project work, that I realized: “Hey, I’ve actually been doing this stuff for a while… just without the fancy terms.”

And that realization sparked an idea.

Backlog Maze is a space where I share what I’m discovering about the world of project management — not from the perspective of a certified expert or a business school graduate, but from someone who’s figuring it out on the job, one sprint at a time.

Here, you’ll find content for people like me: developers, team leads, freelancers, and anyone else who’s suddenly responsible for “keeping the project moving” and wondering, “Is there a better way to do this?”

What to expect

  • Lessons from real-world experiences (both the smooth launches and the chaotic deadlines)
  • Insights into tools, workflows, and methods that make managing work easier
  • Simple explanations of project management concepts, without corporate jargon
  • Personal reflections on the shift from coder to coordinator

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to improve how you handle projects, my goal is to make Backlog Maze a place where learning about project management feels useful, grounded, and maybe even a little fun.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in a maze of tickets, timelines, and team dynamics — you’re not alone. Let’s navigate this backlog together.

Thanks for stopping by!
